The 14-year-old girl who was one of the two girls brought back from Papua New Guinea and was under State care is now in the care of her mother.
Police Chief of Investigations and Intelligence ACP Henry Brown said following a thorough investigation and in consultation with the Ministry of Social Welfare, they have found that the child’s mother had no knowledge of what transpired during her daughter’s stay in PNG.
Therefore it was decided by both parties to release the child back to her mother’s care as the child’s safety would not be at risk.
Brown said they have completed their investigation and the file will be forwarded to the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions for independent analysis and advice.
