Bribery through gift giving between the private sector and government is a big problem in Fiji.
Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations office in Geneva, Nazhat Shameem highlighted this in a workshop organised by the Fiji Roads Authority and South Pacific Engineers Association in Suva today.
Shameem says people should understand that this is not allowed under the Crimes Decree.
She says changing the way in which the private sector and the public sector interact with each other is a real challenge for Fiji.
Shameem also says organizations should have efficient gift policies.
The workshop focused on Legal Challenges, Good Ethics and Governance in Public Infrastructure Projects.
