SODELPA MP Viliame Gavoka has called on the Prime Minister to direct the Attorney General and Minister for Civil Aviation to prevail on the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji and Fiji Airways Limited to urgently consider grounding the two Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes.
Although the decision has been made to ground the two planes for now, Gavoka has also called on Fiji Airways to review its commitment to acquiring more Boeing MAX 8 aircraft.
He says it is understood three more MAX 8s will be delivered.
He also says that Government needs to act quickly with Fiji Airways and secure other aircraft to stand in for the two Boeing 737 MAX 8s that currently fly to Australia and New Zealand from Nadi.
