Fijivillage has received a report from eyewitnesses about a government vehicle registration, GP613 being driven from Vugalei, Lami to Suva City at about 2pm on Wednesday.
The vehicle was driven at speed with hazard lights & blue/red dashboard lights flashing.
These were turned off near the Suva Yacht Club.
According to eyewitnesses, GP613 was driven at least 20km above the speed limit in a 50km area, it overtook vehicles on a double white line near the Vugalei Bridge, overtook vehicles on the Delainavesi corner (near the Police Post) and continued driving at speed through Walu Bay veering in and out of traffic, until the driver reached the Flea Market.
The government vehicle eventually pulled into the curb, illegally parked and without indication opposite the General Post Office in Suva City.
This case has been forwarded to the authorities for investigation.
