Securing a future for the Sugar Industry is not about smiles and sitting around the grog bowl spinning fantasies but it is about leadership.
This was highlighted by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at the public consultation with the i-Ttaukei Land Trust Board and sugar industry stakeholders in Lautoka.
Bainimarama says too often, people hear big promises from the Opposition, but don't hear real solutions.
He says securing a future for the Sugar Industry is about having a strategic vision and plan for the Sugar Industry and being honest.
Bainimarama says it is telling the situation as it is and being clear about what is necessary moving forward.
The Prime Minister says he has always been honest and always will be.
He says no farmer was unable to supply their cane, despite some very bold and false claims from the Opposition.
Bainimarama says they made the Ministry more responsive to farmers' complaints and concerns through the establishment of toll‑free lines, and FSC can be reached at 0800‑6661972.
