The Health Ministry is conducting further investigations in relation to the death of 9-month-old baby boy at the Nausori Health Centre two weeks ago.
Minister for Health Jone Usamate said they need to complete the root cause analysis to get to the bottom of this issue and it will take some time.
Usamate says he has been talking to his staff and the assistant minister has been in contact with the family of the deceased baby.
He says the whole investigation may take another week.
A couple had taken their 9-month-old baby to the CWM Hospital on the 23rd of last month as the child had difficulties in breathing.
The father of the baby Alvin Chandra Krishan says when they arrived at the hospital, they were attended to by a nurse who put their baby on the nebulizer.
Krishan says after a few minutes, their baby’s condition worsened.
He says they complained to the nurse and were only informed that the doctor is attending to another patient.
He also claims that after half an hour, they were informed that there were no doctors available.
Krishan says they could not afford to take their baby to a private doctor.
They rushed their child to the Nausori Health Center but it was too late as their baby passed away.
