The 32-year-old former Police officer charged with allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl has denied taking advantage of the victim because she lived with her grandfather.

He told the Suva High Court that he only knew the girl did not live with her parents one month before the alleged incident occurred.

The accused has also denied threatening the girl on the night the alleged incident occurred.

While giving evidence on Monday, the victim had told the court that she went with the accused on the night of the alleged incident because he threatened to sell her mobile phone.

The victim said she had given the accused her mobile phone to charge at the police station.

The former police officer has told the Suva High Court that he was in an intimate relationship with the victim.

He said he developed a close relationship with the victim three months before the alleged incident occurred and had sexual intercourse with the victim on three occasions

The accused said she showed no signs of refusal while they had sex.

The former police officer is charged with one count of rape and one count of indecent assault.
