Former employee of WAF charged with 1 count of bribery produced before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili

A former employee of the Water Authority of Fiji who is charged with one count of bribery has been produced before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.

Fred Fuakilau who was the Team Leader Integrated Meter Manager is alleged to have accepted $1001 from the Director of Sphynx Solutions Pty Ltd between September 2016 and April 2017.

He has been granted bail.

Fuakilau’s Counsel Josefa Daurewa requested that the Stop Departure Order be temporarily lifted to allow his client and his wife to travel to New Zealand to help his wife settle in.

Chief Magistrate Ratuvili allowed the temporary suspension upon payment of a $2000 cash bail bond by the accused.

Fuakilau has been instructed that upon his return to Fiji the Stop Departure Order would resume and he is to report to the FICAC office every Monday and Friday from the 7^th of next month.

The matter has been adjourned to the 22^nd of next month.
