Former Superintendent of Police Pita Keni has been convicted of a count of failure to render assistance by the Nadi Magistrates Court this morning.
Keni was charged by FICAC with a count each of failure to render assistance and resisting or obstructing officers.
Magistrate Mohammed Azhar has found Keni guilty of one count of failure to render assistance however he has found him not guilty for a count of resisting or obstructing officers.
Keni, while being a public servant employed by the Fiji Police Force without reasonable excuse failed to render assistance to FICAC by refusing to provide information that was relevant to a bribery case against the former Acting Inspector Timoci Naulu.
Magistrate Azhar has informed both the prosecution and defence counsels to file their sentencing submissions by January 22 next year.
