A former Senior Police officer found guilty of two counts of bribery has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Lautoka High Court.
Timoci Naulu has also been ordered to pay a fine of $1,500 immediately and in default 150 days of imprisonment to be served consecutive with the main sentence.
Naulu was charged by FICAC in 2014.
Naulu who was an Acting Inspector of the Fiji Police Force without lawful authority or reasonable excuse solicited an advantage of $5,000 on account of his abstaining from performing an act in his capacity as a public servant namely not to file charges against one Kamlesh Kumar.
Naulu also accepted an advantage of FJ$200 and AUD$200 on account of his abstaining from performing an act in his capacity as a public servant namely not to file charges against Kamlesh Kumar.
High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe told Naulu that he has betrayed the trust and confidence that was reposed in him by the Fiji Police Force.
