It's hard to fathom what could have possibly possessed former Fiji citizen Saliceni Kaladrou at when he burst through the backdoor of his ex‑partners Forest Lake home in Brisbane and stabbed her repeatedly in the head, neck, chest and arms.
Kaladrou later died in a car crash.
9NEWS reports that 37‑year‑old woman was saved by the bravery of her 18-year‑old‑son, who jumped in to save his mother and fight off his father Saliceni Kaladrou.
Neighbours in the southern Brisbane suburb have praised the woman’s son as a hero.
Three young children were later taken from the house in the arms of police.
They're now staying with relatives.
Police confirmed Kaladrou was in a relationship with the woman he attacked.
The mother and son were rushed to hospital as Kaladrou fled.
By 4am the 46‑year‑old father was dead after his car slammed into the back of a semi‑trailer parked on the side of the road.
He died instantly.
The truck's driver was asleep in the cab at the time.
Elia Tuqiri, a friend of Kaladrou, says it's a surprise to all of them and the Fijian community will be very surprised by this incident.
