The former CEO of Fiji Commerce Commission Bobby Maharaj has pleaded not guilty to one count of abuse of office.
Maharaj appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa today.
It is alleged that Maharaj while being employed by the Fiji Commerce Commission directed an employee of the commission, without conducting an inspection to fill in false information to indicate an inspection was conducted of a trader and a verbal warning was issued against the trader for breaches under the Commerce Commission Decree.
FICAC says this was prejudicial to the rights of the Commerce Commission and the trader.
The alleged incident took place between 17th March and 31st December, 2012.
His bail has been extended and the matter has been adjourned to the 12th of July.
