Five people who were drifting in a fibre glass boat between Levuka and Gau from Sunday night, were rescued near Moala yesterday afternoon.
Police confirm that they were rescued by Fiji Navy.
Naval officers aboard a Northern Air aircraft spotted the stranded boat on a reef then alerted the Fiji Navy on the location.
The boat left Gau island on Sunday carrying an injured person with Dr Mika Lutumailagi of Qarani Health Centre, a nurse and the boat owner.
Police Search and Rescue had earlier confirmed that the boat ran out of fuel and started drifting from Sunday night.
Chief of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu says the five had been taken to Levuka to receive medical attention.
In a separate case, the search for 43‑year‑old John Knowles of Kulukulu, Sigatoka and his 11‑year‑old son Ilisoni Naulumatua is continuing.
The father and his son left for the trip two weeks ago and a missing persons report was filed at the Sigatoka Police Station when they failed to return.
