The first witness in an alleged murder case of a 25-year-old labourer, Epineri Waqawai told the Suva High Court that between 4pm to 6.30pm on the 17th of July, 2015, he was drinking beer with his brother and his friends before going to the Bridge Nightclub in Nausori.
Savenaca Nacanitaba who is the brother of the victim told the court that before going to the night club they waited for their gay friend at the old Nausori Bus stand at around 9pm.
During the cross examination Nacanitaba said they met Kelepi Qaqa, Josaia Vusuya and Tevita Dakuituraqa at the nightclub and they were drinking together when he noticed that they were not contributing for the drinks.
Nacanitaba then told the court that he, his brother and their friend left Bridge Nightclub to go to Whistling Duck Nightclub.
He said that they did not know that Qaqa and his friends were following him and he was surprised when Qaqa, Vusuya and Dakuituraqa punched them.
It is alleged that three men assaulted Epineri Waqawai of Lakena causing his death.
They are each charged with one count of murder.
