The Fiji Women’s Rights Movement’s dream of hosting the first Pacific Feminist Forum is now a reality after the forum’s launch today.
Pacific Feminist Forum spokesperson, Michelle Reddy says that they have been planning for this event since 2014 and it is a first of it’s kind.
Reddy says the main objective of the forum is to look at what has been done in the past regarding women’s rights and gender violence and what can be done to build and strengthen movements in helping achieve gender equality in Fiji and across the Pacific.
She adds that once the Pacific Feminist Forum’s charter is finalised and launched this Wednesday, they will be utilising it to help them in meetings.
About 100 individuals from 13 countries are participating in the forum which will end this Wednesday.
