“Study shows the single most important factor that determines the quality of education a child receives is the quality of his/her teacher”.
These were the words of the Acting Permanent Secretary for Education, National Heritage Culture & Arts, Basundra Kumar at the opening of the 1st National Education Seminar, 2014.
Kumar said according to the 21st century teaching is the most complicated task today.
It demands a broad knowledge of the subject, the curriculum and standards, caring attitude, a love for learning, and the knowledge of the discipline.
Kumar stressed that the role of teachers have changed over the years as they are no longer just transmitters of knowledge or facilitators of learning but are expected to be counselors, mentors, administrators, technology experts, nutritionists, organizers and role models.
