The Public Accounts Committee has given the Finance Ministry until the end of this month to prepare a detailed report on why a private firm, Aliz Pacific made the salary payments to government ministers between 2010 and 2013.
It was confirmed that the combined total salary for all the ministers was $1.8 million for that period.
The committee raised the issue last month.
Committee Chairman Biman Prasad says they have received a response.
The Finance Ministry told the committee last month that they do not know the reason behind the decision to re‑divert the payment of ministers’ salaries through the private firm.
The Ministry had said that the salary payment system changed after they received a letter from the Prime Minister’s office.
The Office of the Auditor General also told the Public Accounts Committee that they have requested the Prime Minister’s Office to provide them with supporting documents.
The Finance Ministry has confirmed that the ministers salary payments are now done under the government payroll system.
The Committee has also suggested that the ministry ask Aliz Pacific to provide documents as well.
