Fiji’s first ever drilling training program was held in Suva today.
Speaking at the launch, Acting Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources Malakai Nalawa says the training is tailor made to specifically suit Fiji’s groundwater development issues.
Director Mineral Development Raijeli Taga says at the moment Fiji does not have standardized drillers as some have just gone through their mechanical trade and have certificates while others have learnt through experience.
She says the training program will cost $30,000 and the costs have been looked after by the government.
The training finishes on Friday.
