The Fiji Museum for the first time is initiating a school holiday program for three days where 40 secondary school students who study geography and history visit the Sigatoka Sand Dunes to build their knowledge and skills with emphasis on the appreciation and recognition of the country’s rich and diverse history.
The “Experimental Archaeology Student Camp” is currently being held at the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park as a site for trial archaeological evacuation for students.
The camp is coordinated by the Fiji Museum Education Unit with History Department of the Ministry of Education Curriculum Development Unit to address a platform to enhance children’s understanding and learning of natural and cultural heritage in Fiji.
The camp’s aim is to impart knowledge with school students in order for the interest of history and culture to continue till tertiary level.
The three day program will come to an end tomorrow.
