It’s good news for those earning $30, 000 or less per year as the Government’s free water program will commence on the 1st of February.

The Prime Minister has announced that eligible customers must first register for the program at the Water Authority offices before the 1st of February to receive free water.

The Water Authority said to register, customers must present their Tax Identification Number together with their latest pay slips and if unemployed, customers must present a statutory declaration of income signed by a Justice of Peace.

Under this program, the Government is committed to providing 50 litres of water a day to every Water Authority customer plus an additional 50 litres each for up to four dependents living in the household.

The Water Authority said within the five days of having their registration approved, the customer will begin receiving the free water allocation, which will be reflected in their next bill.

The registration will last for three years.

If during that period the customer’s combined household income rises above $30,000 a year they must notify the Water Authority immediately or face a penalty.
