The 23-year-old Fijian man who violently raped a 59-year-old grandmother in Sydney's Western suburbs in 2017 has been sentenced to 11 years and 6 months imprisonment.
Manasa Qoro attacked the woman on November 12th, 2017.
The Macarthur Chronicle reported that Qoro hit her on the back of the head and forced her to the ground while covering her mouth to prevent her from screaming.
He then told the victim that he will kill her if she screamed and then raped her.
Qoro had previously pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault without consent and sexual intercourse without consent.
During the sentencing at the Campbelltown District Court, Judge Chris O'Brien read out the victim’s impact statement to the court which stated that the victim had become suicidal and has been hospitalised in psychiatric wards twice due to this incident.
A non parole period of 7 years and 6 months has been set.
