The Fijian Elections Office conducted a mobile voter registration drive at the Fijian parliament today.
Among those that lined-up to get their voter details updated and also get a new voter ID card was the Speaker of Parliament Doctor Jiko Luveni, Secretary General to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua and Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa.
Doctor Luveni was the first to have her voter identification card replaced and details checked by the team from the Fijian Elections Office.
Secretary General to Parliament, Viniana Namosimalua says if we really love our country we will want to be part this process and the end point is that we get to have a say in who we want to look after us.
And Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa who got a new voter ID card said she was impressed with the registration process.
Three stations were set up in the Parliament’s Big Committee Room.
One was for registration and issuance of upgraded VoterCard 2.0, another for verifying voter details in the National Register of Voters and the third for awareness material and to facilitate queries from voters.
The Nationwide Voter Registration Drive ends on the 1st July 2017.
