The Fiji 7s team have defeated Samoa 31‑17 in their last pool match of the Vancouver 7s and they will now face New Zealand in their cup quarterfinal tomorrow at 6.30am.
Aminiasi Tuimaba broke into the Samoan defence to score Fiji’s first try of the game to give them a 7-0 lead.
Samoa came back into the contest with a try in the corner.
Alasio Naduva made it easy for Sevuloni Mocenacagi to cross over for their second try before Naduva scored another try to seal their lead in the first half 19-5.
Jerry Tuwai’s sensational footwork saw him race away untouched by the Samoans for another try.

Samoa was not ready to give up as they quickly responded with a try under the posts.
Terio Tamani sealed it for Fiji when he escaped the strong attack from Samoa to score Fiji’s final try to extend their lead 31-12 before Samoa scored the last try of the match.
In other confirmed quarterfinals, Samoa will face France.
The cup quarterfinals will start at 6.08am tomorrow, cup semifinals start at 10.08am and the cup final will kick off at 1.19pm tomorrow.
