A lot is at stake for the final day of the Oceania 7s after the Fiji Airways Mens 7s team, New Zealand, Australia and Samoa were unbeaten in their respective pools.
Fiji’s coach Gareth Baber believes they had a slow start but managed to get the two wins they were aiming for.
Fiji beat American Samoa 24-5 last night.
Baber adds they will have to increase their tempo in the finals.
The Fiji Mens 7s team will take on Cook Islands in the last cup quarter final at 12pm today.
New Zealand’s captain Scott Curry says he was happy with the players performance in their second game as they beat Cook Islands 36-nil.
Curry adds that they will recover and come back strongly in the quarters.
New Zealand will take on American Samoa at 11.20am.
Australian Mens 7s coach Jarred Hodges was proud of his young squad and believes they have a good chance to go all the way.
Australia beat Tonga 24-7 in its last pool game.
Hodges adds that his players have shown their passion wearing the Australian colors which have boosted their games.
Australia will take on Papua New Guinea at 11am in the first quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Samoan 7s coach Sir Gordon Tietjens continued to work with his players in delivering their best performance.
Samoa beat Papua New Guinea 31-14 last night.
Tietjens says this is a good build-up tournament for them ahead of the Dubai 7s next month.
Samoa will take on Tonga at 11.40am in the fourth quarterfinal.
Looking at the Womens semifinal fixtures, Australia will take on Papua New Guinea at 1pm while New Zealand will face the Fiji Airways Fijiana at 1.20pm.
The mens cup semifinals will start at 3pm today while the mens final will kick off at 6.46pm.
