The South Pacific Stock Exchange today signed an agreement with Terrapin Holdings Limited to announce Fiji's hosting of the World Exchange Congress in 2020 and is being regarded as a milestone for Fiji.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the CEO of South Pacific Stock Exchange Krishika Narayan says that this is very historic and a milestone for Fiji as the Congress is anticipating 450 attendees representing the entire Exchange ecosystem.
Narayan says that discussion topics will include Capital Markets.
She says that going into it's 14th year now the event has in the past visited London, Madrid, Monaco, Istanbul, Barcelona, Doha, Muscat and will be held in Beirut on February 2019.
Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says that government is very keen to develop a capital market.
He says there is a lot of potential in Fiji that needs to be fully realized especially in the capital market.
He says that World Exchange Congress will also showcase Fiji from a Tourism perspective.
Sayed-Khaiyum says government is behind SPSE in hosting the World Exchange Congress.
