Fiji will become the first ever Pacific Island Nation to hold the 34th Food and Agriculture Organization - Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific.
This is after a Memorandum of Responsibility was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
Minister for Agriculture Rural and Maritime Development Inia Seruiratu while officiating at the signing has assured Fiji’s strong commitment towards the Conference.
He says hosting such an event will prove Fiji’s capabilities of hosting international conferences.
Seruiratu says this will also give Fiji the opportunity to influence the agenda of the conference and also draw attention to issues that affect Fiji.
The Minister has also revealed that with the opening of the new Food and Agriculture Organization office in the ministry’s building will ensure stronger association with the organization.
The previous Food and Agriculture Organization - Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific was held in Malaysia.
