It’s game day as the Dubai 7s tournament kicks off this evening with the Vodafone Fiji 7s team going into the first HSBC World Rugby 7s series tournament as the defending champions and also as the Rio Olympics champions.
Speaking to Fijivillage from Dubai late last night, Fiji’s Interim Coach, Nacani Cawanibuka says the team is ready and they have been following the same program as Rio.
Fiji is pooled with Canada, Wales and Argentina.
Cawanibuka says they will not take any team lightly.
The team to play at the Dubai 7s includes Setareki Bituniyata, Kalione Nasoko, Nemani Nagusa, Jasa Veremalua, Sevuloni Moceinacagi, Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Jerry Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu, Kitione Taliga, Osea Kolinisau, Joeli Lutumailagi and Samisoni Viriviri.
Halfback Emosi Mulevoro will be on standby as the 13th player.
Fiji will play their first game against Canada at 7.52 tonight and face Wales at 11.47pm.
They will play their final pool match against Argentina at 4.48am tomorrow.
The Cup quarters start at 8pm Saturday, the Cup semis start at 1.41am Sunday while the Final kicks off at 4.33am Sunday.
