After their third win of the season in Hong Kong, the Vodafone Fiji 7s team is top seed and heads Pool A in the Japan 7s this weekend, while runners‑up New Zealand, third‑placed South Africa and the fourth semi‑finalist Samoa lead the remaining pools.
The 2014‑15 season carries added significance because the top four ranked sides after the ninth and final round in London in May will qualify directly for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.
Ben Ryan's Fiji side is drawn alongside England, Wales and Hong Kong in Pool A.
New Zealand will again face Australia in Pool B along with Scotland and Portugal, the side they drew with in the pool stages in Hong Kong.
Current series leaders South Africa will face USA, Canada and Kenya in Pool C, while Samoa will tackle Argentina, France and host nation Japan in Pool D.
The Japan 7s will be held this Saturday and Sunday.
Fiji plays Wales in its first pool match at 1pm Saturday.
We then take on Hong Kong at 4.18pm Saturday and the final pool match is against England at 8.30pm Saturday.
