Fiji has decided to defer its candidacy for a seat on the United Nations Human Rights Council.
This has been announced by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
Bainimarama says we are a small country and this year our Ambassador in Geneva and our foreign policy resources need to be focused on climate change and Fiji’s presidency of the Conference of Parties or COP 23.
He says right now climate change is the wolf at Fiji’s door.
The Prime Minister has also assured that Fiji will renew its candidacy following its presidency of COP 23.
