“ Plant a tree today for our future ”
That was highlighted by the Minister for Fisheries and Forests, Osea Naiqamu when celebrating the 2015 International Day of Forests in Nukuloa in Ra.
Naiqamu said forests and trees play a significant role in providing fresh air however people take all these free services for granted.
He pointed out that government has allocated around half a million dollars each year to protect our forests.
Naiqamu said this year the fund has increased, focusing on re-forestation and forest protection activities.
This will include training programs for forest owning communities and raising awareness.The Minister also joined in a tree planting ceremony to celebrate the 2015 International Day of Forests.
