The 2017/2018 World Sevens Series title has just got more interesting after the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team lost to England 19-17 in the cup quarter finals of the Paris 7s.

Fiji will just need to win the fifth place play-off to secure 13 points which will take their tally to 180 points and hope that South Africa don’t win the final which will put them at 179 points.

The national side were outclassed by a determined England side with their captain Tom Mitchell scoring the match winner at the death.

Fiji was leading 12-7 at half time with tries from Eroni Sau and Vatemo Ravouvou while Jerry Tuwai scored their third try.

England came back strongly to score two late tries that broke the hearts of the Fijians.

Fiji will now meet Ireland in the fifth place semifinals at 11.19pm.

New Zealand will take on USA while South Africa will take on Spain in the last quarter finals.

The semifinals will be held at 12.03am tomorrow while the final will be played at 4.54am tomorrow.
