Four Memorandums of Understanding have been signed by India Minister of State of External Affairs General Dr Vijay Kumar and Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum that included the establishment of the India‑Fiji IT centre and sustainable/renewable energy cooperation, youth development.
While officiating the signing of the MOU, the Acting Prime Minister also highlighted the ties between India and the Pacific in relation to the assistance given to Pacific island countries.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that the ties between our two countries has helped in the lives of our people, in the development of our economies and increased the capacity of Pacific governments to deliver services and security to our people
He adds that the Pacific is appreciative of our engagement with the Indian Government for our engagements and their continued assistance.
The high level delegation from India led by the Minister of State of External Affairs General Dr Vijay Kumar Singh was formally welcomed into the country last night.
Dr Singh is officiating at the India‑Pacific Islands Sustainable Development Conference which will see India and 15 Pacific Island countries including Fiji discussing cooperation and development assistance.
The two‑day conference which begins this morning will see an enhanced exchange of high‑impact actionable ideas that will boost the blue economy in the Indo‑Pacific region.
Meanwhile, the fourth MOU was between Prasaar Bharti Broadcasting Cooperation and the Fiji Broadcasting Cooperation.
