The Fiji Roads Authority will be rehabilitating and upgrading 20 existing sealed roads comprising of approximately 18 kilometres in the greater Suva Area.
Works are expected to start in July.
Fiji Road’s Authority’s CEO Jonathan Moore says for most of these roads, the works will involve pavement resurfacing and repairs to existing curbs and footpaths.
He says small sections of road widening and footpath installation will also be undertaken at selected sites.
Moore says three or four roads will be first chosen for the upgrade and they will also make sure that there are no further roadworks being carried out on the Suva end of Kings road to minimize traffic.
He adds that consultations will take place with the key stakeholders, surrounding community members and the general public on any issues or concerns which they may wish to raise in relation to the proposed roadworks.
Meanwhile, Moore confirms that FRA is completing concrete works for the remaining section of the Nabua Roundabout and works should finish by the first week of next month.
He says all other planned roadworks on the main corridor and detour routes have been stopped to allow motorists to choose alternative routes.
