The Fiji Red Cross Society has established disaster management programme to provide temporary shelter, clothing, water and water containers to people affected by emergencies.
The Fiji Red Cross Society organized a one day workshop to disseminate information about its services during disasters or emergencies.
The Society has developed a system of ‘black packs’ that contains relief items for a family of six members which includes clothing, soap, towels, blankets, mosquito repellent and a basic first-aid kit.
The Red Cross Society’s, Director General Filipe Nainoca said they will work closely with the government during any disasters.
Nainoca said the Fiji Red Cross is a non‑profit organisation auxiliary to Government for humanitarian services.
The Fiji Red Cross Society has 14 branches in the country and a new branch will be opening in Rabi soon.
