The Fiji National Sports Commission is working on setting up a Sports Academy to develop talented youth in various sports around the country.
Commission Executive Chairman Peter Mazey says this is to ensure that Fiji is up to par with the rest of the world in sports science.
Mazey says the academy will be dedicated to support elite athletes’ development while promoting sporting excellence at national and international level of competitions.
He says Fiji lacks relevant testing equipment and labs which is a major concern as Sports Science is an integral part of sports development.
Mazey adds that the proposed Fiji academy will consist of a lab and testing machines for athletes.
