The Government through the Fiji Meteorological and Hydrological Services is committed to providing services aimed at preventing loss of lives and reduce damages to properties caused by disasters and other catastrophic events related to weather, climate and water.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala at the World Meteorological Day celebration at the FSC grounds in Rakiraki.
He says the Fiji Meteorological and Hydrological Services is working with key partners to improve climate services.
Bala says they also want to provide capacity building training to develop the understanding and knowledge of climatologists in the region.
