Year 6 and Year 10 external examinations previously known as Fiji Intermediate Examination and Fiji Junior Certificate Examination will be reintroduced from next year.
This has been confirmed by Minister for Education Dr. Mahendra Reddy.
Dr. Reddy said this is based on the feedback from a number of stakeholders including students, parents and industries who are saying that the quality of students coming out from high schools is worrying.
Meanwhile, Dr. Reddy also confirmed that the current vocational studies in high schools will cease and those students enrolled there will attend the Technical Colleges.
A model Technical College will be established at Nasinu Secondary School next year to provide Certificate One and Two level of trade qualification to all Year 10 dropouts.
Dr. Reddy said other Technical Colleges will be established throughout Fiji in 2015 which will be operational from 2016.
