Fiji High Commissioner to India Namita Khatri presents credentials to Indian President Pranab Mukherjee

Fiji’s High Commissioner to India Namita Khatri has presented her credentials as Fiji’s resident High Commissioner to the Republic of India.

The Fijian envoy presented her Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of India Pranab Mukherjee at a formal ceremony where Khatri also had the opportunity to acknowledge India’s assistance after Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Khatri used the occasion to convey Fiji’s appreciation for the advice of the President on further enhancement of bilateral relations.

She also emphasized Fiji’s priority areas of climate change and management of the oceans as areas for both bilateral and multilateral cooperation with India.

President Mukherjee made particular mention of the visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Fiji and that of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama to India and reiterated India’s sympathies to Fiji on the devastation caused by the recent cyclone.

Discussions also included the training of local women in the Solar Mamas Project by the Barefoot College in India as a meaningful community‑level contribution by India.

Khatri will be based in New Delhi with concurrent accreditation to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka.
