The Fiji Council of Social Services today celebrated the International Indigenous Day through the spirit of hospitality.
Members of Non-Government Organisation gathered at Council’s office along Waimanu Road this morning to reflect on the theme ‘Transitioning Traditional Knowledge to the future’.
Council Executive Director Vani Catanasiga says that as a nation we need to uphold the values that we hold close to our hearts and most importantly note that we are custodians of our tradition and culture.
She says that the spirit of sharing is important in building national unity and so is important to consider every individual that helps in our National growth.
She adds that involving others in once traditional activities does not mean that one must leave their culture for good rather it is important to consider the cultural diversity that we have.
