The Fiji Cancer Society is urging corporate companies, social clubs, sports and church groups and the general public to talk about cancer and the issues that surround it as it is still a concern.
Administrator, Belinda Chan says cancer is not a stigma but is an illness that can be prevented through education, change in lifestyle and through sharing people’s experiences.
Chan says that cancer is the third leading cause of deaths in Fiji and more than 1,200 cases are recorded annually.
She adds that this figure can be attributed to a lack of detection or lack of awareness and knowledge of the illness.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Cancer Society is inviting corporate organizations, the general public and sports groups to participate in the Bushels Fiji's Biggest Morning Tea fund-raising.
