Good progress is now being made in the establishment of a world class Aviation Academy in Fiji with Fiji Airways announcing that two full flight simulators will be installed this year.
The cost of constructing the Aviation Academy which will include a Simulator centre, a cadet training school and a cabin crew training facility is $US45 million.
This project will be funded by Fiji Airways.
Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen today announced the acquisition of a 737 Max full flight simulator.
He says they will soon announce the confirmation of a wide body simulator.
The cost of building the Simulator centre which will include two full flight simulators is $US30 million.
Minister for Civil Aviation Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Aviation Academy allows Fiji to capitalize on its hub status in the Pacific.
The government provided $1 million in 2016/2017 National Budget for the pilot training project.
The simulators will be provided by Computer Aided Engineering or CAE which has more than 230 full‑flight simulators in 50 civil training locations worldwide.
CAE serves approximately 3,500 airlines, aircraft operators and manufacturers across the globe.
