Fiji Airways records best ever performance for passengers in a month

Good news for our national airline, Fiji Airways as it has registered its best ever performance for passengers in a month, recording 107,227 passengers for July.

This is the first time the national carrier has crossed the 100,000 mark for monthly passenger numbers.

July is traditionally a peak month in Fiji’s tourism calendar.

Fiji Airways says July is always stronger than December, since the Australian, New Zealand and US school holidays all fall in July.

The previous highest passenger record for a month was about 99,000.

Fiji Airways Acting CEO David Bowden says this is excellent news coming off the back of Fiji Airways recently announced highest ever six‑month profit numbers.

Last month, Fiji Airways reported an interim six‑month operating profit before tax of $17.5 million, for the period January 1st to June 30th 2015.

The results also revealed an increase of 6.7% in passengers flown for the six months compared to the same period in 2014.
