“The festive season has been serving the Minibus drivers well“

This is according to Epineri Waqabaca the General Secretary of the Fiji Minibus Association.

Waqabaca said that this Christmas season has been a money making period for minibus drivers and their looking for this to improve this week as Christmas draws nearer.

He said that during this period, minibus drivers who service the Suva to Nausori corridor are making 10 passenger trips compared to 5 trips on a normal day.

He also highlighted that minibus owners are earning close to at least $250 a day during this peak period in comparison to an average amount of $150 dollars on a regular day.

He said that more people will be moving around in the coming days which will be an advantage for drivers who serve the Nadi to Suva route.

Waqabaca said that drivers will be aiming to double their profits during New Year.

He also said that the Fiji Minibus Association welcomes the significant reduction in fuel and gas prices.
