A father of five has been sentenced to 12 years 4 months imprisonment with a non-parole period of 10 years after he was found guilty of rape.
46-year-old Josefa Tukana, who was a former security guard at a local university was found guilty of raping a student.
The incident took place in November 2012 within the vicinity of the university.
Justice Fernando said it was obvious the accused took advantage of the complainant.
He also told the court the argument produced by the accused that the complainant threw herself at him and forced him to have sex with her was far from the truth.
He added he found the complainant to be a credible witness.
