A 60-year-old man is dead and four people are admitted in hospital after a motor vehicle accident along Kings Road at Delainamasi in Nasinu this morning.
Police say a vehicle heading towards Suva veered onto the opposite lane and hit the vehicle driven by the 60-year-old man.
The vehicle that was coming towards Suva was driven by a 37-year-old man who is alleged to have fallen asleep.
The victim was rushed to the CWM Hospital where he passed away.
The four passengers travelling with him are also admitted in hospital.
Police say the suspect has been admitted as investigations continue.
The current road death toll stands at 62 compared to 51 for the same period last year.
Meanwhile, drivers are advised to exercise caution when driving towards the back of the Nabua Police Station as the traffic lights are not in operation.
Police say the Fiji Roads Authority has informed them of the situation and as a precaution they are asking drivers to be alert and be courteous to other road users until the lights are fixed.
