A 39-year-old farmer who is charged with one count of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs has been sentenced to 2 years imprisonment by the Nausori Magistrates Court.
Kautanaguna Seaqaqa pleaded guilty to planting 22 plants of marijuana.
While sentencing Seaqaqa, Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne says that the man informed court that he was cultivating marijuana for his personal use.
However, Magistrate Somaratne said the number of plants and the weight would be suggesting that these were for some commercial purpose.
A non-parole period of one year has been set.
