A 36‑year‑old farmer of Viria, Naitasiri who was involved in a fatal road accident in Viria earlier this month has been released on bail by the Nausori Magistrates Court.
A 5‑year‑old boy died in this accident after he was allegedly hit by Mahesh Chand’s vehicle.
Chand has been charged with a count each of dangerous driving causing death and failure to comply with requirements following an accident.
Lawyer Shomal Kant represented Chand in court.
The matter will now be called on the 6th of next month for plea.
It is alleged that the 5‑year‑old boy was running across the road when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Chand.
The victim was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival.
