The Senior Medical Officer at the Wainibokasi Hospital says they usually ask the families of some patients to take them home and say their goodbyes.
While speaking at a public consultation in Nausori today, Dr. Funaki Alofa says this is for those patients who are sick and they know that there is not much they can do for them while they are in hospital.
Alofa told the people that they are doing everything for these patients but it is not working and at the same time they are sort of wasting resources.
She asked around 50 people to forgive her for saying that but stated that this is the hard truth.
The Senior Medical Officer says those that are not getting better and they know that they will pass away in the next day or two, those are the ones they send home so families can say their goodbyes.
Alofa also told the people that Wainibokasi hospital has limited space as the hospital covers the Naitasiri, Tailevu and Rewa provinces.
She says the hospital only has five beds for men, six beds for women and two cots and a bed for children.
