The Fair Reporting of Credit Bill will be debated and voted by parliament tomorrow.
This bill, if passed, will allow Credit Reporting Agencies such as the Data Bureau to be regulated.
While tabling the bill, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says there have been a number of complaints about the Data Bureau for a couple of years and now it has been given a lot of significance in the wake of Cyclone Winston.
Sayed-Khaiyum says there is absolutely no protection for the individual citizen in this country when it comes to the Data Bureau.
He says there must be rules regarding how much debt a person should owe before they are reported to the Data Bureau.
