The Fiji Rugby Union has teamed up with Cure Kids Fiji aimed at supporting lifesaving solutions.
This is in regards to two of the biggest health challenges for children in Fiji which is preventing rheumatic heart disease and ensuring that no child dies from lack of oxygen in Fiji.
FRU says rheumatic heart disease in Fiji affects 1 in 30 children as Fiji also has the highest known rates in the world while the disease is also a leading cause of death for young people.
They add that Cure Kids Fiji is the perfect fit for a charity partner for the Fiji Rugby Awards Night.
FRU says part of the event for the night will be the auctioning of memorabilia and other prizes with the help of New Zealand NGO Helping Hands Foundation.
They add that there are 15 items that will be auctioned including a signed All Blacks jersey and a Vodafone Fiji 7s jersey signed by Fiji’s Gold winning team.
Meanwhile, Cure Kids is also partnering with the Ministry of health and RHD experts from Australia and New Zealand in a national-level research based project in improving and building capacity across all aspects of RHD control and prevention.
The Fiji Rugby Awards will be held tomorrow at Novotel Lami from 6pm to 11pm.
